Things to do in Hungary
Hungary pairs Central European grandeur with thermal baths, paprika-rich kitchens, wine hills, and a melancholy streak that gives it bite.
Hungary's capital is the obvious gateway, but the country opens up through lake resorts, Great Plain towns, baroque squares, Ottoman bath culture, and volcanic wine regions. It feels familiar enough for an easy European trip, then distinct in its language, flavors, and sense of history.
Travel here works well as a city break with extra days, or as a slower loop through wine country, Lake Balaton, and smaller historic towns. Summer can be hot, winter has a moody charm, and spring or fall are the best seasons for walking, baths, markets, and long meals.
