If you pay for one interior in Belem, make it Jeronimos Monastery. Belem Tower is iconic from outside, but the inside is a tight, capacity-limited climb rather than the main architectural event.

These two UNESCO Manueline landmarks are close enough to pair, about a 10-minute walk apart, so the real question is priority. Jeronimos gives you the vast monastery, the ornate cloister and Vasco da Gama's tomb. Belem Tower gives you the riverfront image everyone came to photograph.
